The Ottawa Community Foundation (OCF) is excited to launch a new multi-year Community Sector Leadership grants stream in 2026. This five-year, flexible funding opportunity will provide operational support for critical organizations and collectives across our city.
Input from communities and research confirms that one of the greatest unmet needs in the charitable sector remains long-term, unrestricted funding — particularly for organizations providing essential functions like coordination, advocacy, and collective leadership.
OCF is addressing this gap by powering the infrastructure of change: investing in the shared leadership and organizational capacity that creates lasting outcomes for local residents.
Funding will be available to applicants that are one or both of the following types of ‘community sector infrastructure’:
- Collectives that represent a sector and that provide services, advocacy, coordination, or other benefits to that sector.
- Individual organizations that represent and/or provide services, advocacy, coordination, or other benefits to a sector.
Applicants can request between $50,000 and $100,000 per year. Successful applicants will receive a five-year funding commitment (2026-2030). The funding will be provided as general operating support, and as such is not tied to specific projects or initiatives.
Application process
Interested organizations and collectives must complete a Letter of Intent (LOI). The LOI application process will open on January 9, 2026, and the deadline is February 17, 2026 at 12:00pm (noon).
Applicants whose LOI is approved will be invited to complete a full application.
