Kelvin Kirk received a teaching degree from the University of Dayton, where he attended on a football scholarship. A talented wide receiver, he went on to have a successful career in the CFL, playing for Toronto, Saskatchewan, Calgary, and Ottawa.

Kelvin adopted Ottawa as his home, giving back to the community by mentoring and encouraging young athletes. He coached several local soccer and football teams. Off the field, Kelvin had a passion for the arts—he enjoyed music and was a talented cartoonist.

The Kelvin Kirk Legacy Foundation honours his memory by supporting the success of youth in the community. This was a cause for which Kelvin cared deeply about. It provides an annual academic award to student athletes for their post-secondary education.
