Mississippi Valley Field Naturalists are an active field club founded in 1988 to increase public interest, knowledge, understanding, appreciation, and respect for the natural world. It is run entirely by volunteers, from the Board of Directors, to leaders of outings, refreshment and audiovisual duty at nature talks/presentations, and labour for habitat and trail creation projects.
We are a registered charitable organization committed to increasing the knowledge and awareness of local species and their habitat, and the importance of conservation. The charitable status is primarily to support a bursary which is offered annually to assist students pursuing post-secondary studies in a field related to the natural environment. One or more bursaries of $1000 are awarded each year to deserving students from our area.
