Colin and Jane Beaumont came to Ottawa from England in the 1960s. A rather quiet city, but there were many opportunities in Canada, so they stayed. Ottawa has been good to them and 10 years ago they established the Cajole Inn Foundation, as a registered charity, intending to establish personal contacts and support local charities. It has been a rewarding experience, the only downside being the administration of the Foundation. They found that the Ottawa Community Foundation would provide the management functions whilst permitting them to pursue their charitable giving goals. So, the funds were transferred to the Cajole Inn Fund in 2020 as a donor advised fund, and they will continue to pursue their philanthropic objectives.

The Cajole Inn Fund is dedicated to supporting smaller primarily local charities that improve the quality of life for people with exceptional challenges including:

  1. Vision loss: support equal access to education, training and information
  2. Children with special needs: support education programs that will assist them to successfully integrate into society.
  3. Vulnerable groups: support the provision basic services such as food and shelter to those in desperate need.
