Julie Champagne was appointed Managing Director of Corporate Services and Data effective March 2018. In this capacity, she is responsible for the Bank’s Information, Data and Analytics Services, Security and Facilities Management functions, including continuity of operations. This role along with more than 20 years in operational and financial auditing, management consulting, strategic business planning and enterprise risk management in both public and private sector has provided her with experience in a range of topics of relevant to boards oversight including cyber security, organizational resilience, risk management, and data analytics.

She joined the Bank of Canada in 2009 as Deputy Managing Director of Internal Audit and served as Chief Internal Auditor from 2012, transforming the audit team and aligning it with the Board’s enhanced requirements for greater governance, insight and foresight needs. During her tenure, she regularly reported to the Board of Directors and supported the Board’s advisor (KPMG) on its business resilience evolution program.

A native of Sudbury, Ontario, Ms. Champagne holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from Laurentian University. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor.
