Given the Ottawa Community Foundation’s previous support to both Prezdential and JA Ottawa, we’re happy to share this video showcasing their recent collaboration. JA Prezdential Summer Hoops was a 6-week program during July and August that engaged 15 youths, 4 mentors, and special guests. Students learned about running a business from entrepreneurs Shannon Ferguson and Kris McCarthy of FanSaves and Tariq Sbiet of North Pole Hoops. JA Prezdential Summer Hoops culminated in an outdoor 3 vs. 3 basketball tournament at Fisher Park Middle School.

Prezdential engages the energy and cultivates the talents of disadvantaged youth in Ottawa, particularly racialized youth living in low income communities. JA Ottawa, delivered through the Ottawa Network for Education (ONFE), recruits volunteers from Ottawa’s business community and post-secondary institutions to lead interactive learning activities for students in grades 5 to 12.
