Most grants from the Ottawa Community Foundation are made possible by generous donors who have contributed, through one of our funds, to support important ongoing services, projects, and initiatives. Public recognition of our grants encourages future contributions to this vital community resource.

We like to hear about key milestones and achievements related to the grants we make. Please send us news of your progress. We often share notes of appreciation and impact stories with our fundholders, and on our website, social media, and other channels.

Acknowledgement

We appreciate public recognition wherever possible. When referencing a specific grant publicly, please note the source as:

The type of recognition you provide will depend upon the nature of your project and organization, but here are some examples:

  • Acknowledge your grant using the Ottawa Community Foundation logo on any print and digital materials produced to promote the project. If applicable, provide a link our website: https://www.ocf-fco.ca. See logo guidelines below.

  • Promote your grant in any publications your organization produces, such as newsletters, annual reports, lists of supporters, etc. Please note that the grant was made with support from the Ottawa Community Foundation using the naming structure mentioned above.

  • Pitch us a story idea to amplify the news or impact of your grant. Examples could include collaborating on a blog post, video testimonial, or other production.

  • Engage local media through a media release, email or personal phone call. While the Ottawa Community Foundation will publicize grants through our own media relations activities, it is the frontline organizations who carry out the work that is of most interest to the media. Direct communication from you is the best way to obtain coverage of your organization and your initiatives.

  • Let us know in advance of any plans to hold a media event or photo-op or distribute a news release to publicize your initiative. We can be prepared to respond to inquiries or try to attend your event.

  • Put us on your distribution list to receive all copies of news releases and articles that may mention the Ottawa Community Foundation. Please email all copies to blam@ocf-fco.ca.

  • Inform us about media coverage so that we too can keep track of news generated by our grantees and to share on our channels.

  • Send us photos that will help us tell the story of how your initiative is benefiting the community in our own publications. We will also need photo release forms signed by all subjects in the photographs.

Guidelines for Logo Usage

When using our logo to acknowledge a grant, please include a link to our website when possible.

In addition, when displaying the Ottawa Community Foundation logo:

  • Select the appropriate format for the intended use
    (e.g. – high-resolution black-and-white logo for printing of black-and-white documents).
  • Do not alter the colour of the logo.
  • Do not distort, stretch, or tilt the logo.
  • Do not change the font or resize the text in the logo or tag line.
