Are you thinking of giving back to the community but are unsure where to start? The Ottawa Community Foundation offers many different ways to do so. One way is to create a fund of your own that you can build over time. With your own fund, you get to decide which charities or causes you will support, and receive the tax benefits that come with it.
We make it easy for you and those who may also want to contribute to your fund through a variety of giving options including access to a new online donation portal. Below, you’ll also find a few reminders to ensure we process your donation in a timely and accurate way.
We have a new online donation portal
If you donate online, our recently redesigned portal now makes it easier and offers updated features to help you grow your fund.
What’s new?
In addition to providing a more secure online giving platform for you and those who donate to your fund, you can now:
- choose how you give – use your credit card or an existing PayPal account to give once or set up flexible monthly donations.
- tell your fund’s story – contact us to find out how to add an image and/or a description to your individual fund page.
- boost your outreach to grow your fund – for those of you who fundraise, share your page with supporters for one-click access to the donation form.
NOTE: If you shared or linked to our previous online donation portal, please update the URL today. The previous one will not be re-directed. You can search for your fund on the new portal.

Reminder about gifts of securities
We routinely accept transfers of securities which incur no capital gains when donated. To do this, please complete the latest form on our website in the Make a Gift of Securities section.
In order for us to process each donation and issue a tax receipt in a timely manner, you must send us the completed form after initiating the transfer with your financial advisor or broker. This form provides the required information to allocate the donation to the specified fund(s).

Of course cheques are welcome too
Sometimes it’s just easier to write a cheque. Please make it payable to the Ottawa Community Foundation with the name of the fund in the memo line, and send it to:
