Ottawa Home Economics Association is a professional association for graduates from programs of home economics/family studies and related studies. Association members work to empower individuals and families with the knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a desirable quality of life. Over the Association’s 90-year history, many activities have been organized to educate the public for improved daily living in fields of food & nutrition, housing, clothing & textiles and consumer economics. Fundraising has enabled scholarships for university students studying in the field. Support for the Ontario Home Economics Association and lobbying for education in areas such as nutrition and financial literacy has also been given.  Many members are family studies educators, others work in government or industry, and all contribute to the wellbeing of their communities however they practice their profession.
