As we step forward in 2021, we know the urgent needs in the community are still there. Together with your support, the Ottawa Community Foundation will continue to address those needs. We also believe that a thoughtful recovery means supporting cross-sectoral partnerships that create mutual benefits–now and into the future.

That’s why we’re excited to highlight Cooking for a Cause Ottawa (CFACO) in this short video. Last year, we provided funding to kickstart the initiative. Led by Parkdale Food Centre and the Ottawa Community Food Partnership, CFACO tackles food insecurity by partnering local restaurants affected by COVID-19 closures with social service agencies to provide good meals for those in need.

We spoke with front-line workers, clients, community members, and businesses about how CFACO goes beyond food delivery and strengthens social infrastructure. The initiative includes wellness checks that reduce social isolation and lifts up local restaurants by leveraging their capacity to provide community members with the dignity of a quality meal.

The Ottawa Community Foundation wants to cultivate and support cross-sectoral partnerships like Cooking for a Cause Ottawa. You–donors, grantees, businesses, policymakers–can join us on this path to recovery.
