OTTAWA – May 10th, 2017: For 30 years, we have been working with you to make a difference in our community. We have done this successfully by connecting people who care, with causes that matter.   While we will continue the work to make our city the best it can be, we know we can do a lot more. In our expanding role as a city-builder and thoughtleader, our plan is to bring the right people together to tackle issues that allow Ottawa to realize its full potential.

Over the past three years, as we listened and gave thought to our promise to you, we also considered feedback about our organization, our name, and our visual identity. We heard that our logo was difficult to recognize and that our look was dated.

With this feedback, we conducted a re-branding exercise and are very pleased to share with you that beginning Thursday, May 11th, 2017, we will start to share publicly that our name has changed to Ottawa Community Foundation / Fondation communautaire d’Ottawa (our name in French remains the same).  We are excited about our bold new logo and a complete change in our colour palette.  We believe that making “Ottawa Community” more prominent is a great reminder of our solid base and the work ahead of us. It is also a reminder that our focus is less about us and more about working together for the well-being of our city.

Our new tag line, Invested for good / Investir pour le bien, communicates both a focus on our stellar financial stewardship as well as a commitment to excellence and kindness. It also clearly articulates our pledge for the long term.

You can rest assured that we are invigorated by our new brand and that we will continue to work with the Ottawa community as a trusted partner to fulfill philanthropy with impact. This means bringing about positive, systemic and sustainable change in our city and beyond.

We will continue to build assets and create opportunities to support organizations facing daily challenges on the frontlines, while we sow the seeds of social enterprise and gain momentum with impact investing.  This is a critical component of the sustainability and health of our sector.

While we remain steadfast in our commitment to our small grants programs, we have evolved to being more than a grant maker in the background.  The New Leaf Community Challenge for example, was designed to inspire and support innovative and collaborative approaches to addressing critical issues in Ottawa. Our web-based knowledge centre, Ottawa Insights is a hub of information and data which can be tapped to better understand and act on issues and trends in our city.

Our donors make our work possible.  They are the lifeblood of our organization.  We have listened to their need for more flexibility in the vehicles we offer them and have put new options in place to respond to this need. As a result, we have attracted a new stream of donors which ultimately benefits the community.

For all these reasons, we are proud of the results of our re-branding exercise.  Stay tuned for more news and developments as we roll out our new brand and deliver on our promise to you.
